I hardly ever write a review about a business after my drive back home and thinking about it heavily I decided I must write this smart body have no one to file a complaint with. When I was first referred to smart body PT I met with A very nice physical therapist and even though there was no PT done only a consult I had paid a $30 co-pay. With my hectic work schedule and also receiving PT at another location, I had to work very hard between my very hectic schedule and even though I called in the allotted time and reschedule three appointments not four. Once I arrived at my appointment today, which is September 17, 2004. Soon as you walk in the front door, you’re loudly ask across the waiting room. What is your last name? Also, after paying my $30 co-pay I sit down and the other receptionist came upfront while the other receptionist was waiting on a patient. She says I owe another $20 because I needed to pay a $50 cancellation fee. Right in front of the other patient, there is no upfront receptionist privacy between The patient and their privacy. I simply said I am not paying the $20. Why should the $20 matter and go towards my next Co-pay so a few minutes went by and she went and got the office manager in the office manager said to me oh because she canceled the appointments the cancellation fee is $50 which leaves you owing $20 and when I refuse to pay, she did not hesitate $20 came before a patient’s care. She simply picked up the phone and she called and said could you reverse the payment of $30 back to my It is very sad that smart body PT care about $20 more than the care of a patient. I’m sure my insurance and my co-pays is way more than $20. Business from me or any friends or coworkers that I know, I would prefer them not to visit Smart because $20 will come before your care. I see if I owed I pay all my co-pays So thanks, smart body for putting $20 before a patient’s care. My doctor office have already sent me up with a lot of practice to continue my care. Natasha the front receptionist is very load and discussing a patient’s business in front of other patients is not ok.

I would give ZERO STARS if I could. I have no idea if their therapy is any good because they decided to no longer take Aetna as of April 23 2024, and didn't bother to tell me this 3 weeks ago when I called to make the appointment. They asked on that day what insurance I had and then told me "Yes sir, we accept Aetna", not bothering to tell me then that they were dropping Aetna coverage until I showed up for my appointment today. Which by the way, they charge $75 if you miss an appointment, but paid me nothing for wasting my time by taking off work for the non-appointment and all of the paperwork they had me fill out online. I was very excited to start my therapy with them and now I am completely disappointed at their lack of customer service. If you have Aetna insurance, don't bother with this PT center unless you want to pay out of pocket, which they tried to offer me before I walked out. I am sure the therapists are great, but I wouldn't know, because I didn't get past the front desk.

When I asked what the co pay was on my first visit, they told me my insurance would cover my PT in full, then billed me $300.00 in co pays. I didn't have the money and would have never continued going if I had known that there was a co pay.

These guys are not professional at all after scheduling an appointment and waiting for more than 2 months,I have been told that they don’t accept my insurance, their customer service is really horrible.

Experience at smart body was ok until I was completely lied to, by both therapists and front desk staff, about what my insurance covers for my visit. Now they're billing me 300 dollars. I will not be returning.

I wasn't happy with my first 3 intial visits and when they called me to make my next one I explained that I wasn't satisfied with the services. They called me back the next day and asked me to come back and to try the owner as my theripist instead and that maybe we weren't a good match. I was up to doing that until I suggested that for my time wasted that they only charge my insurace company for the make up visits and not be require me to pay my $40 copay again for the next 3 visits, they wouldn't do it. I made comment to them that if I fixed their car and they weren't happy with the repairs being done would you be willing to pay me again for fixing it right the second time. They said this was different. Yes it was as I was still allowing them to get paid through my insurance and an auto repair would have got nothing. I didn't think I was asking for that much. I couldn't believe what I was hearing as their whole business is based on word of mouth referrals. Do you mean that it is more important to you to get my $40 then it is to get nothing at all, lose a customer and get a bad review. She hung up on me. I later learned at my next doctor's visit who referred me to them, that they called him to try and save face. He said I had no idea what they were even talking about as you never mentioned this to me. I guess they were afraid of losing a referral too. Follow up - They came back after my review telling me it is against the law to not charge a copay. I learned a long time ago to follow through on anything that involves money because people will tell you anything to get out of having to refund your money. So did just that, I contacted the insurance regulatorys office to confirm that fact. They were only telling me the half truth. YES it is against the law to wave copays as a practice to lurer customers in from someone going to another doctor because your cheaper by not charging copays. It is not against the law to wave a copay under special circumstances including poor customer service as you already paid your copay the first time and your compensating the customer for poor service. They admitted it to me it wasnt good service they just didnt want to pay by proving it.

Response from owner

Hi Jim, we’re sorry that you are not happy with your therapy. As we explained to you, it is illegal to charge Health insurance and then not charge the patient a co-pay. We are also not allowed to provide medical services for free. We called your referring provider to inform him of what was going on, so that he was not blindsided if you did speak to him about it. This is a standard practice of ours to stay in communication with our patients and providers for improving care. You were not happy with our services and we wanted to communicate to the physician that this was the case. Most people complain that their providers do not communicate with each other enough, we are doing our best to rewrite the script for patient care, which includes improved communication between providers. We are a bit confused about that being a criticism, as most people would be thrilled about this. Again, we are very sorry you feel like your experience did not meet your standards, we appreciate your feedback and will use it to improve upon our services.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Office is very unprofessional! My first appointment was beginning of May for a tilted pelvis. I was taken in the back for my PT to come speak with me. I waited 45 minutes for her! 1st flag.. 2nd was I called on 9th to cancel future appointments because I had graduation and family in, no one answered (surprise surprise) so I left a voice mail stating I was canceling and would call back when I could make time. I called back Monday after that week and 3rd flag no one answered AGAIN! final flag was they sent a bill for 2 no call no shows. Um, no!

Response from owner

Hi Courtney, Sorry again for the inconvenience. We tried calling you previously to resolve this after you posted on our Facebook over a month ago. Our therapist did stay with you to make up for the amount of time she was late to your visit, but we will remove your no show charges for the other appointments. We've tried our best to correct your unhappiness. Thank you.

The experience wasn't bad, but they ill informed me on what I would be paying. So they pretty much screwed me. Telling me my insurance covered everything. Then when I was finished with my physical therapy got stuck with a 200.00 bill. Thanks smart body!
